VMEDIA Damage Waiver Cover

For equipment values of up to £5,000, VMEDIA through VMI, can offer damage waiver cover, charged at 18% of the total hire value.  The Inland Revenue have ruled that VMEDIA Damage Waiver cover is exempt of Insurance Premium Tax but instead subject to VAT at the prevailing rate.

If you have your own insurance cover, please send us a copy of your cover note and we will remove this charge. Failure to do this prior to your hire will result in damage waiver cover being charged.

Conditions

  • The Customer must be able to demonstrate that reasonable care has been taken to prevent loss or damage.
  • Theft or malicious damage of Hire Goods must be reported to the Police immediately upon discovery and a crime reference number obtained.
  • The Customer must notify Supplier of loss, damage or theft immediately and provide any information requested.

Limit of liability

  • The maximum value of loss that may be waived for any single Contract will be £5,000.
  • Limit of Claim –
    • ‘Damage Waiver’ does not protect the Customer for the first £50 (or 20% whichever is the greater amount) of any Hire Goods loss claim.
    • In respect of losses due to theft or damage in transit, ‘Damage Waiver’ does not protect the Customer for the following sums:

Exclusions

Loss will not be waived under the following circumstances:

  • Loss or damage arising from failure to clean and conduct routine maintenance of the Hired Goods where such cleaning and maintenance is the Customer’s responsibility under the terms of the Contract.
  • Loss due to the dishonesty of any Customer or its employee.
  • Theft from an unattended vehicle.
  • Loss of Hire Goods revealed only when an inventory is made.
  • Loss resulting from the incorrect or inadequate packing of all camera or video lens or filters for transit.
  • loss of Hire Goods hired for the purposes of stunt, underwater or aerial photography/videography.
  • Loss arising from civil disturbance.
  • Loss occurring outside the United Kingdom.
